I have additional training in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapies, Grief and Loss, Trauma, Children who have Witnessed Abuse, Play and Art Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy.

COUNSELLING PROCESS: Making the decision to seek out counselling is a courageous step towards healing. Often people hesitate to seek out counselling because they feel it is a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it is a conscious choice to take responsibility for one’s internal pain. A choice to recognize that there is a problem and that you have the power and resources to take responsibility for your own healing.

It is my belief that the focus of counselling is on empowering clients so that they can reach their full potential and lead more fulfilling lives. I believe that everyone has the internal resources (wisdom, strength, persistence, etc.) they need to cope with difficult life situations and to grow through them. I will endeavour to collaborate with you to discover these resources, establish positive goals that are focused on health and possibilities, harness hope and help you connect more fully with yourself and others.

Coming to your first counselling session may fill you with apprehension and anxiety. This is normal. I provide a warm and compassionate environment where clients feel safe enough to explore their difficulties and process their feelings. I also have the unique ability to connect with youth and help them feel accepted without judgement so that they are able to embark on their own path towards healing.

EXPERIENCE: I have been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2004. I worked in the non-profit sector for eight years with an organization that provides support to women who have experienced abuse and their children. I have been involved with presenting educational programs to youth in secondary schools about healthy relationships and the risks of relationship violence. I have also facilitated various types of support groups including children groups, teen groups, parenting groups and groups for grief and loss.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS: I am a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, a member of the BC Play Therapy Association, and a member of the Satir Institute of the Pacific.
